Super Bowl XLIII: The great American gathering

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

A short list of great things that are “Born in the USA,” would entail: the NFL, the Superbowl, Direct TV, NFL Sunday Night Football and of course, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

The great American gathering is always over-the-top with funny commercials and spectacular performances. This year’s Halftime show for Superbowl XLIII on February 1, 2009, will feature a performance from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Another great American vocalist, Grammy Award-winning artist (and the voice of Sunday Night Football’s theme-song), Faith Hill will be singing “America the Beautiful” before Superbowl XLIII kicks off. For one of the greatest American gatherings of the year, it’s only natural that a great opportunity is presented for everyone to see it.

Direct TV packages offer subscribers the chance to really experience the Big Game via an exclusive NFL Superbowl celebration, that takes you live to Tampa Bay, Fl in the comfort of your own home. You’ll get an up close look at Raymond James Stadium, that you’d never get if you went to Superbowl XLIII in person. See the performances up close and get a look at the North End Zone, “Buccaneer Cove.” It’s a 20,000 square-foot cove featuring an enormous 103 foot, authentic replica of an early 1800s pirate ship overlooking a façade fishing village.

Obviously, the Superbowl is really about the NFL’s biggest football game of the year, and Direct TV brings it to you live in High-Definition, with a crystal clear picture that puts you in the center of the action. Subscribers who can’t watch the game live can see it later in the same hi-def quality, thanks to the Digital Video Recording system.

This great American gathering is brought to you by Direct TV and it’s the perfect way to wrap up the NFL Sunday Ticket season. Sports fans and those whom only mildly enjoy sports always have a grand time watching the Superbowl, the commercials are funny, the performances are spectacular and it’s one of the greatest American traditions we can celebrate together!

What’s going on: Staying informed with Direct TV

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Staying informed and up to date with the goings on of the globe is easier than ever before. The sheer number of media outlets alone makes it difficult to not absorb at least some current information. Some people continue to succeed at remaining unaware of current news, yet even subconsciously they have been exposed to relevant information. Direct TV allows people numerous alternatives to gathering current news other than the traditional forms of newspapers and newscasters. Information of today’s politics, economy, and international affairs has seeped into numerous avenues of television. Beloved cartoons such as “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” are filled with allusions to the current state of the world and different situations within it. While the references may initially be lost on the lesser informed audience members, they have at least been exposed to the information and it has been placed somewhere in their memory.

Another popular form of relaying and discussing the news now is through mock newscasts such as “The Daily Show with John Stewart” and “The Colbert Report”. These shows discuss real issues but lighten the content with jokes, interesting guests, and sharp commentary. Shows along this line act as a kind of sugar to help the, to some, boring medicine of current events go down. They blend very nicely the information of a rather traditional news show with the high entertainment value of a clever comedian and talk show host. What is most refreshing about shows of this nature is that because they are not typical reporters and members of the media, they are in a position to ask their important guests the more hard-hitting and direct questions that many reporters avoid. Viewers are treated to stunned officials sweating in HD as they attempt to answer a very abrupt and penetrating question, offering a less choreographed sensation than typical news interviews.

The expansiveness of channels offered through Direct TV packages also means immigrants in the United States do not have to feel completely cut off from their country of origin. They can even watch the news about their homeland in their own language, providing a sense of connection with their original home. While news in the United States, as in most countries, relays news of the world, it is done more so in the fashion of how the global situation affects and relates to the United States and domestic affairs are of course about the United States. Being able to watch the news from other countries means that immigrants can stay even better informed about their home country, not having to remain reliant on only American broadcasts to hopefully mention something in relation to their country. And we haven’t even mentioned sports!

The breadth of news in all forms of media but especially in television means more people than ever are being informed about the world around them, whether they like it or not. What individuals choose to do with the information being presented to them is entirely voluntary, but it is thankfully becoming more and more difficult for people to plead complete ignorance to what is going on in the world today thanks to tools such as satellite TV. If you would like to be more informed about what’s going on in the world today, check out the latest Direct TV deals. You’re sure to find a programming package to suit your needs and budget.

And if you prefer to gather your news and information by surfing the Web, satellite internet technology is a great option, especially for people who live in rural areas where high-speed connections are harder to come by. Hughes Net is the leader in satellite internet service. Hughes Net internet is a great service that is worth looking into, especially if you are still using dial-up to connect

Make way for TV changes in 2009

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

It’s a New Year, and the time has come for new beginnings.  We will be getting a new president, and along with him probably a lot of changes.  We are nearing the end of the first decade of the 21st Century.  Soon analog TV will be completely replaced by digital broadcast, accompanied by a huge increase in high definition broadcast.  It’s time to catch up with all these changes, from the world-shaking to the day-to-day details.

Technology has become a constant and important part of our lives.  Not to make you feel too old, but the new generation of college freshmen was born after the invention of the internet and the rise of cell-phones.  Can you remember the last time you went more than 48 hours without checking your e-mail?  Now factor in radio, iPod, cellphone, and television – can you remember going even a few hours without using one of those?  It’s not a bad thing at all; technology positively contributes to almost every aspect of our life.  The point is, it is time you started using technology in style.

The change to digital broadcast, for instance, is the perfect excuse to make some improvements in your home entertainment system.  As more and more programs broadcast in high definition, it is better than ever to own an HD TV – and the bigger the screen the better the benefits you reap from the amazing resolution.  If you don’t already have Direct TV, it is a change that is far past due.

While you are at it, why not update your whole living room space?  If there are repairs you have been meaning to make for ages, take charge now and make 2009 a year of change.  Replace the old carpets.  Build some new shelves for better organizing your movie library.  Change the light fixture to something that will complement the space, with good light for reading or watching TV.  If you are going to have a slick television set, you should have a comfortable space to enjoy it in.

Change your viewing habits in 2009.  Make time to watch your favorite shows and follow your favorite teams, but don’t be afraid to click the set off the rest of the time.  If watching football is your ideal way to kick back on the weekends, considering getting one of the most popular Direct TV packages, NFL Sunday Ticket, which will allow you to watch all your favorite teams and track your top-choice players.  On the other hand, if you are a movie buff, make sure you get a satellite TV package that has all the best movie channels.  Focus on your personal preferences and be proactive.  If you are busy are have a tough schedule, maybe TiVo is the way to go to ensure that you are not missing out on the programs you want to see.  Don’t waste your time, use your time!

Go ahead, initiate some changes this year.  Stay up-to-date with technology and do it in style. Check out the latest Direct TV deals and choose the programming package that’s perfect for you. Make priorities and follow through.  Take the time to relax in the ways that you want. Make 2009 your best year yet!

Why sports fans love their Direct TV

A Commitment to Quality Programming

Sports fans around the country continue to select Direct TV for their television and entertainment services, and not only because of the wonderful menu of programming options, but also because they are a major provider of comprehensive sports coverage. They broadcast more national, international and regional sporting events than any other service and make a large number of specialized “subscription” packages available as well.

For example, NASCAR fans can select the “Hot Pass” programming option and actually ride in the five top cars during the race day. This Direct TV exclusive also lets them tune into the driver’s radios and hear what their next moves or car troubles may be! Alternately, fans of the famous English sport of Cricket can gain live access to all of the international matches occurring from England to Sri Lanka.

Of course a majority of homes are now in possession of High Definition equipment, and Direct TV offers the largest number of channels anywhere, more than 150 in fact. Their offerings include sports networks, channels and local as well as national stations. This means the widest coverage of sports in the best format possible.

Another feature which is very popular with sporting fans is the Direct TV exclusive “Sports Pack” option that provides access to over thirty channels of sporting news, gaming and entertainment. The channels cover almost any sort of sport or athletic activities imaginable, from around the country and the globe. Additionally, the “Sports Mix” interactive feature exclusive to Direct TV packages is like a fan’s dream come true. Viewers can take in eight channels of live sporting events, news and information all on one screen.

Direct TV truly understands just how passionate sports fans can be, and has also created a new feature to help their customers locate games that are “blacked out”. Many sporting events will often have national, network or regional blackouts applied as a way of protecting rights holders such as sports leagues or teams and television stations. While this is perfectly legal and completely understandable, it is unbelievably frustrating to a dedicated fan tuning into watch their favorite teams compete. The Direct TV exclusive “GameSearch” feature automatically detects blackout conditions and seeks the entire network and upcoming schedules to locate the game elsewhere. This means no more missed games or frustrations.

Additionally, Direct TV makes DVR (Digital Video Recorder) equipment available to both traditional and HD customers and those with the GameSearch software will be able to automatically link their DVR to the program. Once a game is determined to be a blackout situation, the software locates it and automatically sets the DVR to record the game or event.

Interestingly, Direct TV makes such a service entirely free of charge for its current customers. This means that dedicated sports fans have a real friend in their Direct TV equipment.

Direct TV has a nationwide reputation as the provider of the widest range of high definition entertainment, educational and sporting programs. The company is constantly at work expanding technologies and equipment, including its two newest satellites, adding many more channel and network selections and using innovation to meet customer’s viewing needs. Look into the many excellent Direct TV deals that are currently available!
